Sharing a Drink Layout using Scraptastic club July Kit

I really wanted to join a monthly scrapbook kit but had no ides on where to start.  So after I did some research I decided to go with Scraptastic club kits, for a few reasons.  First Scraptastic offers two main kits a month, so chances are you’re going to like at least one of them.  Second If you decided that you don’t like either one  you can skip a month; which I really like that not saying I’m going to use it but at least I know it’s there.  And I’m going to be honest I like have options that just gives me a little comfort.  Third reason is the price I feel the price is a great value for what you get in the kits! And lastly before I had sign up I reviewed what the previous month kits were and I had really liked them.  And those are the reasons which made me decide to go with Scraptastic Club.  If you would like to check out there site just click HERE.  This month I pick the out on the town main kit plus the add-on kit.  I had really like the rock lobster kit as well, but decide not to go with that kit because I already had most of the stuff that came in that kit.  Both kits were really nice.

Once I choose the paper I wanted to use for the layout, and matted the photos, the layout came along just fine.  I will post some more photos and there is also a processed video.  If you would like to see how I put this layout together step by step then please watch the video.  For me it is much easier to say what I’m doing then to actually write it down.

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog and have a wonderful day.  One last thing before you go, if you haven't joined me socially please do!  I have all my social media sites in the upper right corner.  All you have to do is just click on them.  Again thank you so much!!  Crystal

Hero Arts Neon ink Vs. Recollection neon ink

The other day I was strolling through Michael’s and had notice on an end cap they had some new ink pads.  Now normally I don’t stop and look at what I like to call off brand ink pads.  So yes that is what I say the Recollection brand is an off brand.  I’m not saying that I don’t like off brands cause I do. As a matter of fact I love off brands, I’m thrifty like that.  But I have learned a lesson with off brand ink pads!!  For me, and this is just my opinion, I would rather spend the extra money and get a better quality ink pad.  I’ve just had too many bad experiences with cheaper ink pads.  Now that I got that out of the way I wanna talk a little about what I saw at Michaels.  So I was looking at these new cube sets they had and notice there was a collection called pastels and neon’s.  I pick that set up and then look at the price of $4.99, I said to myself wow this is the first time I’m seeing another company carrying neon inks.  I decided to pick up that set so I could compare them to the Hero Arts neon ink pads.  I also said to myself worst case scenario if I don’t like them I will just throw them away after all they  only $4.99 and I’m going to use a %40 off coupon anyways.  Do you see how I talk myself into buying more stuff that I just don’t need?

Before I get too far into this post I just wanted to say that I did do a video on this.  So if you prefer to watch then read go to bottom of post.  I have to admit I was surprised on how good the recollection brand stamped out.  Now I want to give you my honest opinion, my favorite is the hero arts.  But I’m very glad that I did buy the recollection ones.  The recollection does have a few different colors, which I happen to love the red one.  The hero arts ink pads are very juicy (at least my are), and stamp out very bold and vibrant.  The recollections seem a little dry, but they do stamp out very good as well.  Take a look at the pictures below, I tried to get them at a nice close angle.

My final thought and opinion about these neon pads are:
  1.  If you’re unsure about the whole Neon thing, then try the recollections.  If you don’t like them then you only wasted $5.00.
  2.  If you’re on a budget, then try the recollections.
  3.  If you already have the Hero Arts and can buy the recollection then get them.  They are a nice  addition to the Hero Arts.
  4.  If you don’t want to invest in the Hero Arts, then get the recollections.
  5.  If you love the neon fad right now, I would invest in both if you can.
  6.  I love them both, but if I had to choose.  I would pick the Hero Arts!

Elle’s Studio July 2013 Kit

A really quick post for today, I bought the kit for July from Elle’s Studio.  I really like their monthly kits, if you buy them on launch day its $9.99 and if you buy it after it’s $11.99.  Launch day is the 10th of the month, just in case you are wondering.  I feel you get a good value for your money.  This is a fairly new program for them; I believe this started in May.   The kit includes a mix of tags and shapes that are great for layouts, cards, and project life!  Below I have included 2 pictures that show you what this month kit looks like and if you want you can watch the video were I show you piece by piece.

So for July kit you get: 3) 4 x 6" tags    2) 1 - tabbed tags 3 x 4", 1 - tabbed tags 4 x 6"   6) 3 x 4" tags (one is vellum)     2) 3 x 4" frames    10) die cuts.  That gives you a total of 23 pieces.  I think it’s a great value.  But hey that’s just my opinion, check it out for yourself.  Click HERE to be taken to Elle’s site.

Scrapbook Layout-Confidence- 8 ½ x 11

Since this layout for my OLW (one little word) scrapbook it is an 8 ½ by 11 page.  Now I used to only scrap 12x12 pages, but this year I decided to switch it up and do different sizes.  This page was very simple to make and only took about ½ hour.   I think it looks very refreshing.

I will quickly walk you thru how I did this layout, but if you like you can watch the video that I have down below that shows you step by step.  I started out with an 8 ½ by 11 bazzil white textured cardstock.  I sprayed and splattered some of my homemade neon ink sprays.  If you would like to see how I made those click here.  Next I used some washi tape; the title is made up with niki riki thickers in yellow.  The circle tag is from Elle’s studio June kit.  The last couple of things are some silver sequins, very little journaling, and I used some pink neon ink to put the date on.  Like I said it was a very simple, but yet effective layout.

On another note I want to thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to visit my blog.  I will post more pictures below and or course the video.  I also wanted to include where I got the inspiration for this layout.  Her name is Julie and here is her blog http://starlightwindsong.blogspot.com. Thank you again and have a wonderful day. Oh and if you would like to join me socially click on the links in the upper right side.

Mod Podge Mod Melts and Molds Review

Today I wanted to talk a little bit about the new Mod podge mod melts and molds.  I purchased my from Michael's,and the cost is $7.99 for the mod melts, and $6.99 for the molds.

I really like working with the mod melts they cool in about 10 minutes give or take.  Which is great when your working on a project and need something in a hurry!   After they are cool they are nice and solid, however they do have a little bit of flexible not much but a little.  They are not completely hard like resin,or clay pieces are.  Now these are to be able to take other mediums I have not tried that just yet.  That's going to be another day.  The mod molds to be honest are just like any other mold out there.

I know this post is all about mod podge, but as I was playing with this I decided to pull out my melting pot and play with some UTEE.  I'm so glad that I did.  I must admit I was having so much fun!!  So the only reason I decided to try some utee in this mold was to see what the difference would be.  And to see if the impress would be the same.  To be honest and you can see the pictures below to form your own opinion, I think both look great and both have the same amount of detail.

I'm going to include my video below in which I do a complete demo on this product, and some photo's to.  So I wanted to give my true opinion and feeling about this product so far.  I do really like it, however this is something that you don't have to have or need.  These mod melts are just like another type of medium to use.  If you have clay or resin that will do just fine.  Now don't get me wrong these are nice and I do really, really like them but they are not a necessity to have.  Now for the molds any silicone mold will work.  So for the price of the molds, I would just look on eBay for some because you can get them allot cheaper.

I have really wanted to do this layout for such a long time; I just never got around to doing it. So finally this weekend I decided to go ahead and just print the picture out and make this layout. I’ve also been dying to cut in to the glitz color me happy collection, that’s what I decided to use for this layout.
